Waters GPC system can be used for synthetic and biobased polymers. System consists of Waters 515 pump, Waters 717plus autosampler, Waters 2414 refractive index detector and multi-angle light scattering (MALS) detector with eight angles. “Absolute”molar masses and sizes for each separated fractions can be determined without standards if MALS detector is used. Alternatively, narrow dispersity standards can be used for molar mass determination. Wyatt Astra GPC software and Waters Empower software are used for data processing.
