Allows users to test custom inks, design jetting profiles, evaluate jetting behaviour and observe deposited ink on substrate.

Uses disposable cartridges for holding and dispensing inks. Cartridge orders from the manufacturer are handled by Timo Ylönen (delivery may take several weeks).

Printer software allows extensive manipulation of jetting profiles and settings, as well as creation of simple test patterns (complex patterns can be imported as monochrome BMP-files).

Manufacturer recommendations for custom inks are:

• Viscosity max. 30 mPas
• Surface tension 28-60 mN/m
• Particle size max. 0.2 µm

Depending on cartridge, nominal drop volume is 1 or 10 µl. Actual drop mass can be determined experimentally.

Maximum thickness 25 mm. Substrate mounting plate can be heated up to 60 °C.

Printer integrates two microscope cameras for monitoring printhead nozzles (drop watcher camera) and printing substrate (fiducial camera).
