Device information
Manufacturer
Electromantle: Cole-Parmer Extractors: Lenz
Model
Electromantle: 3 positions heater Extractors: DURAN, borosilicate glass, volume 150 ml
Description
The solvent is recirculated continuously and distilled from the extracted sample before contacting the solid again.
The extract is concentrated in the distillation flask.
The method allows an effective separation with relatively small amounts of extracting solvents
Properties
Extractors need cooling water for condensers to condense the vapors.
500 ml extraction flasks are mostly used.
Samples are put into extraction thimbles.
Very light powders can float during extraction, so it is good to put glass wool fibre to cover the sample in the thimble.
Anti-bumping granules are used in extraction flask to prevent splashing. They can be used once, after that they are inert.
